The Last Revel at the Tonic Room – Sunday, June 12th

The Last Revel
From the budding music scene of the Upper Midwest comes the cutting edge Front Porch Americana soundscapes of The Last Revel. This powerfully talented trio of multi-instrumentalists from Minneapolis, Minnesota so naturally blends the genres of Folk, Rockabilly, Old Time String-Band and Rock to create a sound that is as equally original as it is timeless. The Last Revel trio utilizes their multi-instrumental abilities to bring the acoustic guitar, upright bass, fiddle, 5-string banjo, harmonica, kick drum and three-part vocal harmonies together to consistently deliver “Bombastic live performances,” as well as delicate and haunting folk ballads.

With their second, self titled, album released in May of 2015, The Last Revel further demonstrates their ability to create rich and delicately textured recorded material with a modern “tip of the hat” to the storied history of American folk music.

9pm // $7 // 21+

Tonight we celebrate the release of Dust Tapes, the third and latest EP by Logan Square’s THE BRIBES. These boys play dirty, moody, imaginative blues-rock from the soul. Relying on genre-bending songwriting originality and good old-fashioned musical instrumentation, the Chicago four-piece has developed a dynamic brand of rock and roll since forming in 2011. Haunting vocals and huge electric guitars act as anchors to round out their dark, bluesy sound. These dudes are no strangers to the Empty Bottle stage, opening for ELI PAPERBOY REED this past March. They never disappoint, and we’re excited to celebrate with them tonight! Chicago’s indie-pop collective TEENAGE RAGE return to the Bottle tonight for the first time since 2013. It’s been far too long since we’ve been dazzled by their boisterous, kitchen-sink approach, and we’re ever-so-glad to have them back in the warm embrace of our stage. Opening this evening is RAHIM SALAAM AND BENTO. RAHIM SALAAM is an artist from Chicago who wears many very fashionable hats. He is an M.C. with BLUNT CREW, a member of the rock band TOOFUNCHILD, host of a weekly podcast called What About Chicago?! and is a founding member of Amateur Arts Productions. BENTO is a Chicago independent hip hop artist and DIY promoter.

COYOTE GHOST

Coyote Ghost puts the songwriting of guitarist/vocalist Peter Toutant to the rhythmic and melodic stylings of drummer Matt Velasco, bassist Tom Vonderhaar and keyboardist Jon Wade. The result is a Chicago-based roots rock band. Our debut EP is scheduled for 2016.

PEASANTRY

Peasantry is a rock band birthed from basement shows in Rogers Park, Chicago, where the group’s four members met while listlessly attending college. Their music is the eclectic result of a collision of four unique musical personalities, and drawing on a wide array of influences from Prince to Wilco to Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Peasantry’s unpredictable live shows can often become a sonic smorgasbord. Following up the 2014 EP “Palace,” Peasantry released the full-length “Pesanté” in February 2016, and currently plays live as often as possible.

PRECIOUS ROY

Precious Roy was formed in 2015 with the desire to play the kind of fun-times Pop Rock that everyone can groove to. Music should be fun, right? Come rock with us!

Sego // http://www.segoband.com

The last time BIG BLACK DELTA played the Empty Bottle was in 2012, so we would say we’re about due for a visit, wouldn’t you say? When Los Angeles lo-fi rockers MELLOWDRONE decided to take an extended break in 2010 after a decade of recording and touring, frontman JONATHAN BATES found himself questioning whether life in a band was for him after all. As well as briefly playing in M83 on tour, Bates worked as deliveryman and sound technician, before his friend and former NINE INCH NAILS member Alessandro Cortini introduced him to the benefits of creating music on a laptop. Jonathan Bates became engrossed, and it was during an intense period of creativity that electro/synth-pop BIG BLACK DELTA was born. Harnessing guitars and warped electronics to create a wall of sound, BIG BLACK DELTA— also the term used to describe a man-made UFO — released the singles If***ingloveyou and Betamax in 2012 via Master of Bates, as well as remixing a host of acts including M83 and DAFT PUNK. BIG BLACK DELTA recently announced a new record titled Tregame Tierra will be released April 22nd, and we’re ready to hear alllll about it this evening!
