With two albums as a leader, many recordings as a sideman, newly commissioned pieces, and performances across the United States and Central America, Nicaraguan pianist and composer Darwin Noguera is considered to be a rising star in the new generation of pianists in the Jazz idiom. Based in New York City, he has established himself as one of the most in demand pianists, playing with artists such as Steve Turre, Rich Perry, Giovanni Hidalgo, Paquito D’Rivera, John Benitez, Luques Curtis, the Francisco Mela Trio, Chembo Corniel, and the Arturo O’Farrill Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra.
Darwin draws from a range of influences including Herbie Hancock, Oscar Peterson, Bill Evans, Danilo Perez, Chucho Valdes, and Debussy and Bach. He moves through musical styles like a fish in the water, employing the same prowess in Jazz as he does in Latin.
