RUI: Reading Under the Influence February 3rd: “BITTER.”

February 03, 2016 at Sheffield’s Beer and Wine Garden in Chicago.

The Date: Wednesday, February 3rd.
The Theme: “Bitter.”

Please join us Wednesday, December 2nd, for readings, drinks, and trivia at Reading Under the Influence. This month’s theme is “BITTER.” Because we all know you didn’t get that gift you wanted this year.

This month’s readers:

LIZ BAUDLER – Liz’s byline has appeared in Newcity and the Windy City Times, and she arbitrates the gay agenda on Twitter. She also has a love affair with a submarine, and that is not a metaphor. She loves Pilsen, coffee, and her girlfriend.

ED BLAIR – is the pen name for a dumpster full of raccoons located in chicago. he runs the holy demon army zine distro and edits three zines: black metal of the americas, pro-wrestling feelings, and the new romantics. his work has been featured in the atomic elbow, no friends, and working stiff: the anthology of professional wrestling literature and art. you might recognize his face from the chicago reader’s people issue.

CHRISTINE NOLAN – Long time RUI regular and chicago resident. This will be her first performance with us and we are looking forward to having her show her skills!

MASON JOHNSON – Mason is person, he promises, and also he writes things! You may have seen his work with CBS, in the recent comedy/literary events BAD KARATE , or maybe just shouting in the streets.

Sounds like such a bitter group, right? RUI features readings of original short stories plus short-short excerpts of published work related to a theme of the month. So don’t you dare be sour, because you know I will, and check out this show.

We’re in the back-back room off the courtyard patio at Sheffield’s, 3258 N. Sheffield Ave. Grab a seat and a bite to eat at 7 pm; readings start at 7:30 pm. There’s a $3 cover. 21+.
