It’s time for the annual Japanese tradition of pounding sweet rice into “mochi” – round dumplings for the new year. Come at the crack of dawn to help steam the rice. First pounding starts around 10:30am and after the 11am service, free samples of fresh mochi for everyone (limited amount for sale – we do not accept advance orders). Open to the public – especially those who want to participate in the pounding, turning and shaping.
