Pop-up Bass – A Night of Music for Double-Bass and Voice

Please join us for this rare opportunity to hear music from three unique musicians who specialize in the low end of the sonic spectrum. While it often goes unsung as a solo instrument, tonight will feature the double-bass is all its glory.
Local stalwarts Katie Ernst and Dan Thatcher will be joined by special guest Maggie Hasspacher to present music from their respective solo albums which feature original compositions and re-imaginations of choice songs.
In addition to playing their individual sets, the three of them will be joining their basses and voices in various duo and trio formations.

March Forth Outdoor Climbing Fair

Want to get out and climb on real rock? Join us for March Forth, a crowd-sourced outdoor climbing fair designed to stoke passion for climbing outside and channel information about some of the best climbing areas to visit.

From 7-9 pm on 3/4, experienced outdoor climbers from the FA community will represent their favorite climbing areas with photos, guide books, approach and accomodation information, and route/problem recommendations. Plus, you can learn more about First Ascent’s Gym To Crag classes launching in March.

Here are some of the climbing areas that will be represented:

Jackson Falls, So IL
Devil’s Lake State Park
Governor Dodge State Park
Holy Boulders
and many more!

Cory Jobe, Director Illinois Office of Tourism, will be the featured speaker at the Chicago Chinatown Chamber of Commerce’s next Chinatown Business Luncheon scheduled on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at 11:30 am. The luncheon will take place at Lee Wing Wah Restaurant located at 2147 S. China Place. Mr. Jobe is responsible for leading the state’s tourism industry marketing and development efforts. He works in collaboration with tourism industry professionals to promote visitor travel both domestically and internationally, and to help grow the tourism industry throughout the state. During the luncheon, Mr. Jobe will discuss the economic power of tourism and the impact it has on Chicago and the State of Illinois. He will also talk about his office’s international marketing efforts, including China, which is a major trading partner with Illinois.

Circle Theatre is proud to present the Chicago Premiere of Ryan Scott Oliver’s 35MM: A Musical Exhibition. NEIU International Business Conference 2016 – Europe & The European Union

The International Business Conference will be held in Alumni Hall on the Main Campus of Northeastern Illinois University on March 7 and 8.

The focus of this year’s conference is Europe and the European Union. Free and open to the public, the conference is organized and run by students from Northeastern’s College of Business and Management.

Alumna and Global Chief Information Officer at Smithfield Foods Julia Anderson (B.S. Information Science) will present “Recipe for Success” on Monday, March 7, at 6 p.m. Her talk also will serve as the third installment of the NEIU Alumni: All Access series, which demonstrates the lifelong value of a Northeastern Illinois University degree from the perspective of some of the University’s most successful and inspirational alumni.

Pawel Pietrasienski, Minister Counselor in the Trade and Investment Section of the Polish Embassy in Washington, D.C., will deliver the keynote speech on Tuesday, March 8, at 10:50 a.m.
